An unfortunate road accident happened on Saturday on the Angabanga Road in the Central Province after a drunken driver of a truck ran over his fellow passenger while he was asleep in front of the vehicle.
PPC Laimo Asi said both men from the Yesu Vaibua area in Mekeo, stopped by at the Angabanga market to buy smokes and buai while drunk and the driver apparently forgot about his passenger in front of the truck and ran over him upon take off.
Bystanders called out to the driver to advice him that he had run over a man and when the driver tried to reverse the vehicle, he ran over the man again killing him instantly.
Police have apprehended the driver and he is awaiting formal charges. PNGFM
