An employee of the National Parliament, who is a lawyer by profession has been given a consultancy contract worth K221, 000 by his employer which might be tantamount to double dipping.
Rabaul MP Dr Allan Marat, pictured, made these assertions in a question without notice to the Speaker.
He sought leave to ask a question to the chair who is also the Chairman of the Salaries and Remuneration Committee.
He questioned whether he as chairman was aware of Parliament awarding a contract to a Parliament staff who is a lawyer by profession and if this contract is illegal since the employee is an individual and not a company
Speaker Pomat said he is aware of the contract and he will look in to the legality of contract and advise parliament accordingly.
