A teacher who has been charged with 4 counts of rape, 2 counts of indecent assault and 7 counts of sexual assault has pleaded not guilty to all charges in the Suva High Court in Fiji, the Fiji Village reports.
Umesh Prasad is alleged to have committed these offences between 1st January 2010 to 31st October 2013 while serving as a teacher in a school in Nasinu.
Prasad's lawyer requested for bail stating that an investigation by the Education Ministry has found him not guilty and has transferred him to another school.
His lawyer said that his client is innocent until proven guilty.
The DPP objected to bail.
Justice Salesi Temo has remanded Prasad in custody and a bail ruling will be done on the 26th of this month. Fiji Villages
