The Department of Justice and Attorney General is focusing on bringing its services to the rural population and to achieve this, more residential judges are needed to attend to increasing number of cases in Provinces.This was the statement made today by the Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia during the appointment and swearing in of a new resident judge.
Mr Robert Lee Lindsay from Miline Bay province is the new 3rd Resident Judge for the Western Highlands Province.
Justice Lindsay was working with a private law firm for 14 years and he says he humbled to take up a high post in the judicial services.
“It’s not easy to reach such a high office in the country and to have the confidence of the Judiciary and the Intern Authority is such a humbling opportunity for me to give the best back to our people” said Justice Lindsay.
Meanwhile Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia said there are 36 permanent judges in the country but they need 4 more judges to make up the required number of judges in the country. PNGFM/ONEPNG
